Lace Knitting and Chart Reading
2 weeks - 2 hrs each week
This is a great course for the advanced beginner or anyone else interested in lace.
In the first session we'll choose yarn and appropriate circular needle, learn the garter tab cast on and the increases used for the beginning of the cowl worked back and forth, and learn to read charts. In the second session we'll work on the lace part of the pattern in the round, learn how to read our knitting, and discuss finishing techniques for lace. Students will receive a handout of tips and tricks to augment the pattern instructions.
Students should be able to knit and purl with ease. Experience with increases and decreases is a plus but not required.
Required Materials: 16" US size 5 circular needle, or size to obtain gauge, 300 yds fingering weight yarn, ideally a color pack or a few small skeins in complementary colors. Purchase of pattern $5.00 (price of class adjusted to reflect pattern purchase).
Yarn suggestions: Wooly Wonka "Transitional Skein Sets", Mountain Colors "Perspectives", or Classic Elite Yarns "Liberty Wool Lite".
